Printing kinusaiga patterns at actual size

A kinusaiga pattern is only as good as its printout. If the print is scaled even slightly, the finished piece won't match your board. This page explains the two paper sizes we support, how multi-sheet patterns tile together, and how to verify scale with the calibration square — then you can try the tool with a real pattern below.

One setting matters most: 100%

In the print dialog, choose 100% or Actual size and turn off Fit to page, Shrink oversized pages and any custom scale. Browsers and printer drivers occasionally scale pages by default — that's what the calibration square on every sheet is for: measure it after printing. It must measure 25 mm (about one inch). If it doesn't, fix the scale setting and print again.

A4 or US Letter

A4 (210 × 297 mm) and US Letter (215.9 × 279.4 mm) are both supported everywhere on this site. The tool remembers your choice; nothing is forced by location. Pick the paper you actually have in the tray.

Margins

Every sheet keeps a 10 mm border free of pattern lines by default (adjustable between 5–20 mm), because most home printers can't print to the very edge. A separate 30 mm band below the artwork holds the 25 mm calibration square, so it cannot cover the pattern. The printed corner marks show the artwork area.

Multi-sheet patterns and assembly

When your board is larger than one sheet, the pattern is sliced into a grid. Sheets are numbered row/column order, and neighbouring sheets share a 10 mm overlap marked with a dashed line. Individual sheets are parts of one drawing: the final board has no paper seam. To assemble:

  1. Print all sheets at 100% and let them dry for a minute.
  2. On each incoming sheet, trim the blank left or top margin to the artwork edge, using the corner marks as guides.
  3. Place the incoming sheet's first 10 mm of artwork over the previous sheet's dashed overlap zone. Match the printed lines before taping.
  4. Tape on the back, then fix the assembled pattern to your foam board as usual.

This is the live tool with our beginner pattern. Type a size, switch paper, and print — the same tool lives on every pattern page.

Both sizes are always available — the choice is remembered for next time.

Advanced settings

Measure the calibration square after printing. If it is not the stated size, turn off scaling in the print dialog (choose 100% or Actual size, disable Fit to page) and print again.
